FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team returns home to host Cal Poly at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium on Tuesday evening.

THE REMATCH

The Bulldogs are set for a rematch against the Mustangs after claiming a 5-2 victory over Cal Poly on the road earlier this month.

Jaykob Acosta earned his first win of the season after pitching two scoreless innings and striking out two batters.

The Bulldogs totaled eight strikeouts against the Mustangs and allowed only two walks.

Tommy Hopfe led the offense against the Mustangs with two hits and two RBIs, in addition to a home run from Rocco Peppi.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Shortstop Ben Newton has earned his spot as the Mountain West doubles leader with 21 on the season.

Newton is only a two-bagger run away from leading the nation in doubles and currently sits tied for second.

With an average of 0.49 doubles per game, Newton sits at seventh in the country.

THE BATS ARE HOT

Eddie Salidar, Tommy Hopfe and Rocco Peppi currently make up three of the top four in the hits category among MW competitors.

Rocco Peppi has driven in 49 runs for the Bulldogs this season, the second most in the MW.

Eddie Saldivar has scored the second-most runs in the league with 46.

With 13 home runs as a Bulldog, Peppi also is tied for the second most home runs in the conference.

KINGS OF THE MOUND

The Diamond 'Dogs continue to lead the conference on the mound with a team ERA of 5.13.

Noah Beal has struck out 64 batters in 54.1 innings, the third most in the conference.

Fresno State has also allowed the least amount of runs in the league with 243 and only 63 doubles allowed.

Tommy Hopfe leads the MW in saves and is seventh in the country in the category with eight on the season.

As a team, the Bulldogs rank third in the nation with an average of 2.92 walks per nine innings.

A strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.16 places the Bulldogs at sixth in the nation.
