'Dogs selected to Stanford Regional

FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 54 Fresno State men's golf team will make its return to a NCAA Regional for the first time since 2010. The Bulldogs will head to the Stanford Regional announced by the selection committee on Wednesday morning.

Fresno State will compete May 13-15 at the Stanford Golf Course. The 14-team field includes Florida State, Ole Miss, Illinois, Texas A&M, Stanford, UCLA, SMU, Missouri, Fresno State, UNLV, Augusta, Liberty, Sacramento State and Siena.

It is the 27th all-time team NCAA appearance for the Bulldogs.

The six 54-hole regional tournaments will determine the 30 qualifying teams and six individuals (not on those qualifying teams) who will compete in the finals. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals (not on those teams) will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals (not on those teams). The low five teams and the low individual not on a qualifying team will advance to the finals.

The 2024 national championship will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calf.

Fresno State had five Top-5 finishes this season and ranked as high as No. 42 during the spring in the national rankings. The Bulldogs opened the fall at No. 13 according to Golfweek after finishing runner-up at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate with a program-low 45-under par.

Fresno State's best results this season have come when its competition was the toughest. The 'Dogs earned second-place finishes at both the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and the Lamkin Invitational, both of which featured at least 10 teams which currently rank in the Top 65.

Last week, the Bulldogs finished tied for fifth at the Mountain West Championship in Cresswell, Ore.
